Feel Good Friday: 23.06.2017

A rabbi, a reverend and an imam

Nope, this ain’t a setup to a witty joke. Nah, these clergymen are on their way to making Omaha, Neb., the home of interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding. They have partnered up on a decadelong quest to bring together the three Abrahamic faiths to share and worship on the same property. It is called the Tri-Faith Initiative. I can’t think of a more suited time for such an initiative. We’re living in intolerant times. For a fuller story, click here

A little act of kindness

What’s that saying? Umm…“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”. Well, on 3rd June, one Mr Ryan Hamilton was on the rooftop of a restaurant when he saw an unknown woman with her friends. He observed her watching a certain blind man who had been trying to hail a cab unsuccessfully for a few minutes, he observed her detach from her friends with no warning to the aid of this man. As a shout-out to her, he posted this interaction on Facebook and boy, how the internet reacted to this act of kindness by this woman. Proves that we’re all looking for something good to cling to.

Whoever she is, she is a hero. She’s put some good karma in this darkness infused world. Her little act of kindness has sparked such inspiration in a lot of people. We should all aspire to do one act of kindness a day and remember that “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted”.

A new water park just opened up in San Antonio, Texas. “What makes it different from all the others already out there?”  you’re wondering. The answer, it is the world’s first ultra-accessible splash park where guests of all ages and abilities can get wet and have fun together. “Like Morgan’s Wonderland, Morgan’s Inspiration Island is not a special-needs park; it’s a park of inclusion. Both were designed with special-needs individuals in mind and built for everyone’s enjoyment”, said Gordon Hartman, the founder of the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation, who own and run the park.

  • Super fun rides ✅
  • FREE admittance for anyone with special needs ✅✅
  • Wheelchair accessibility ✅ To sweeten the pot, Morgan’s Inspiration Island also provides free waterproof wheelchairs*[1]
  • Waterproof wristbands with RFID technology, so you never lose a member of your party ✅
  • Capability of conditioning water to a warmer temperature at Rainbow Reef so guests with sensitivity to cold can still splash and play ✅
  • And for the environmentally conscious, the splash park has been designed with water conservation in mind. Water used in the various play elements is filtered continuously and recirculated, and it’s stored in huge underground concrete tanks when the park is not in operation ✅✅✅

Morgan’s Inspiration Island – like Morgan’s Wonderland – concentrates on inclusion and inspires guests with special needs to do things previously thought not to be in their range of capabilities,” Mr Hartman explained. “Those without disabilities and those with, including individuals in wheelchairs, guests with hearing and visual impairments and even guests on ventilators, can play alongside each other and gain a greater appreciation of one another”.

Bat signal in L.A

On 9th June, the world lost a legend, the original Batman. According to his children, he aspired to positivity and always saw himself as the Bright Knight. In commiseration for his heroism and in true L.A fashion, a bat signal was set up drawing in a crowd of supporters, fans and well-wishers last Friday.

Kite flying in Baghdad

These days, Baghdad has a bad rep in mainstream media – the senseless war, a hub for extremism. According to the Telegraph, Baghdad is the least liveable city on Earth. But these guys are challenging this title by hosting a kite festival:
